Bernard didn’t initially set out to become a Chartered Accountant. He started his career by completing a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics and Computer Science) at Auckland University in 1987 before moving to Sweden to become a trainee at IBM’s European Development Laboratory in Natural Language Processing.
Two years later, Bernard returned to Auckland University to complete a Bachelor of Commerce followed by a Master of Philosophy (Management Science and Information Systems where he graduated with 1st Class Honours). In 1996 he obtained his Certificate of Public Practice from the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants and became partner in his father’s practice in South Auckland.
After Bernard’s father retired in 2002, Bernard remained the sole director of Mazur & Company until he co-founded StreetSMART Accountants in 2010. The desire to return to family orientated business was strong, and Bernard created a new specialist firm, Acudio in 2017.

With a keen interest in tax planning, business acquisition and sales, Bernard is active in Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He was twice elected to the National Council of NZ Chartered Accountants in 2008 and 2011, previously chaired the Public Practice Special Interest Group, was a member of the Auckland Branch Tax Liaison Committee for 18 years (chair for 5 years), a member of Auckland Public Practice Committee and a convener of Trust Special Interest Group (chair 2016 and 2017).
A family man, Bernard enjoys spending time with his wife, Tracey, and three teenage children. Free time is spent exploring the outdoors through leisurely tramping, the occasional mountain bike ride, reading and tending to his backyard bees.

Craig has 40 years of hard earned experience in the Accounting arena and is skilled across a wide range of administration, process and technology systems.
With nine years in NZ Government and fourteen years in the Australian Consulate General Auckland for the Australian Government, Craig is well versed in the crown sector.
Craig was originally recruited by Bernard to run the commercial practice, was an integral part in moving the business to the current premises in 2017 and a key stakeholder in implementing the new technology stack.
Originally from Wellington, and still very much a Hurricanes, Lions and Phoenix supporter, Craig moved to Auckland in 1986. He has two young grandchildren, plays soccer, enjoys going to the movies and walking in the outdoors, "especially if it's on the way to a coffee shop".

In the spirit of family tradition, Monika is also an entrepreneur and academic. She ran her own business on the Gold Coast, Australia before returning to New Zealand to study. Graduating from Manukau Tech in 2005 with a NZ Diploma in Business, whilst raising two young sons at the same time, Monika now has a 20 year contribution to the accounting field .
Monika has worked with Bernard as the business has transitioned for the past 19 years, and with the addition of Stef, the family business continues to thrive.
Experienced in accounting and tax with a sound understanding of complex tax legislation and compliance, Monika loves to build outstanding relationships with her clients to really understand their business needs and look for ways to improve and grow their businesses.
When not working, Monika is mum to the now grown up boys, an active member of the Manukau Tramping Club and explorer of New Zealand's beaches and parks. She enjoys relaxing in the garden and is a part time skier.

Stef obtained her Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and entered the work force as a statistician in the tannery industry.
The call to the family business was strong and Stef started working for her father while studying for her accounting qualifications part-time. Eighteen months later, Stef married and moved to Wellington where she worked in corporate accounting before returning to Auckland to raise their two children - all the while studying hard to realise her CA dream.
The couple ran a coffee shop and ice cream parlour in the New Lynn Mall for a few years in the '90s which Stef chalked up as essential real world experience. "Running the business gave me an understanding of the pressure and responsibilities small business owners experience as they juggle their commitments to customers, family and stakeholders".
In 2001 the hard graft materialised and Stef qualified as a Chartered Accountant - obtaining her Certificate of Public Practice in 2011. She joined Bernard's business in 2008 for a 6 months trial to see if the siblings could cope with working together and now 10 years later they're still going strong. Stef believes that building close relationships with her clients and understanding their business is key to helping them grow and achieve their financial goals.
Stef is kept busy with her two grand children, loves to go on early morning walks, is chief towel holder for her husband (an ocean swimmer) and is currently on the Building Committee for a local church which is planning a major redevelopment. A love for travel sees Stef on a narrow boat through canals in the UK in 2019.
